Phoenix, Arizona |
I grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. Now I live in Scottsdale and make time lapse movies of the weather at the old family house in Phoenix.
Zoolights at the Phoenix Zoo is a popular holiday tradition. The dazzling light show features Music in Motion shows, with the lights around the lake and in the trees sychronized to music. The show will run until January 12th.
Cumulonimbus clouds drift across the east valley bringing rain, lightning, and thunder. The speed of the action in this time lapse movie has been increased by a factor of 120 during the day and 150 after sunsset.
This image was assembled from 22 exposures taken between 7:42 PM and 7:54 PM.

Moist air from the gulf of Mexico is bringing cloudy skies and thunderstorms to Arizona. This time lapse movie speeds up the action by a factor of 60.
Air traffic descending into Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport passes over the neighborhood where I grew up. In addition, each day several business jets cruise over at low altitude on their way from Sky Harbor to the Scottsdale Airport. While visiting my family over the holiday weekend I photographed the air traffic overhead.
